The Sungei Palas Tea Centre – truly spectacular!
A definite must on the list of things to do in Cameron Highland is a visit to the new Sungei Palas Tea Centre.
Opened by BOH Plantations in 2005 at the Sungei Palas Tea Garden, it is just above Brinchang, in the very heart of the Cameron Highlands tea country.
Located on a hilltop, amidst rows of tea bushes and close to Gunung Brinchang, it offers the best possible introduction to Malaysian teas in a truly spectacular setting.
The Tea Centre is home to the Tea’ria a souvenir and tea shop as well as an exhibition area with comprehensive information about the tea manufacturing process.
OPEN DAILY EXCEPT MONDAY
The Sungei Palas Tea Centre is open daily – except Monday – from 9 a.m to 4.30 pm. Admission to the factory visit is free and information tour are conducted approximately every 30 minutes.
BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS
With the cool climate of the highlands, the tea centre is surrounded with blooms of red cannas, yellow lillies, blue agapanthus, colourful dwarf hibiscus and other blossoms, all contrasting with orderly green of the tea bushes and making the place a heaven for picture taking (but the flowers are not for picking!)
HOW TO GET THERE
-From Simpang Pulai and Kampong Raja, 3km before Brinchang turnright just before the Equatorial Hotel.
-From Tanah Rata, pass Brinchang and turn left about 500m after the Equatorial Hotel.
-If you do not have transportation, ask your hotel what is the best way to get there.
