Malaysian Sport Aviation Federation (MSAF) and AKA Balloon Sdn Bhd will be co-organising the 1st Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2009 on the 19th until 22nd of March. MSAF was formed in May 2003 and AKA Balloon’s (registered MSAF member) managing director, Khairudin Abdul Rani, is the Vice President for Lighter Than Air. Pilots from 19 countries have been invited to participate in the Fiesta namely;
Australia, Belgium, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Oman, Philippines, Switzerland, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, United Kingdom and United States of America.
In general experienced and skilled hot air balloon pilots around the world especially form Europe and Asia, are invited to participate in such Fiestas

In order to make the fiesta livelier, there would also be concurrent activities at the take off site, once the hot air balloons take flight.
With these other activities, the public would be entertained and at the same time would also be exposed to other aviation sports. The activities include but are not limited to;
Para-motor
Aero-model
Kite flying exhibition / competition
The Fiesta site would be divided into four different areas, namely;
1) The Sponsors Display Area and Hot Air Balloon Take Off Area
Sponsors booth as well as hospitality tent for the VIPs and Media would be placed at the same area as the take off area. Once the hot air balloons take off, the concurrent aviation sports activities such as para-motor, aero-model and kite exhibition would take place to entertain the public.
2) Bazaar
Stalls selling food, drinks and merchandise and activities such as face painting and caricatures amongst others, would be available to entertain the kids and the whole family.
3) Funfare & Carnival
Games, rides, inflatable rides, tethered hot air balloon rides and other fun games and entertainment suitable for both the young and young at heart.
4) Automotive Show
Exhibition area for cars, bikes and such.
