Old & New Delhi
New Delhi, the capital and the third largest city of India is a fusion of the ancient and the modern. Delhi displays a picture rich with culture, architecture and human diversity, deep in history, monuments, museums, galleries, gardens and exotic shows. Comprising of two contrasting yet harmonious parts, the Old Delhi and New Delhi, the city is a travel hub of Northern India.
Steeped with Mughal history, Old Delhi, takes you through the labyrinthine streets passing through formidable mosques, monuments and forts. You will also discover lively and colorful bazaars which boasts of goods and items at mind-blowing prices in the midst of a barely controlled chaotic ambience.
The imperial city of New Delhi displays the finely curved architecture of the British Raj. It generates a mesmerizing charm reflecting well-composed and spacious streets under the shade of beautifully lined avenues of trees and tall and imposing government buildings.
Agra, formerly known as Akbarabad, was once a symbol of Mughal power and aspiration, but it was also their residence and they filled it with gardens and elegant palaces. It was the capital of India during the Mughal era. It’s a city of rich heritage of art, culture and architecture. The most famous building of the city is obviously the Taj Mahal, the king Shah Jahan built it for his loving wife Mumtaj Mahal. It is one of the New 7 Wonders of the world, and one of three World Heritage Sites in the city, the others being Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri. The great Taj Mahal appears pink in the morning, white during the noon and golden in the moon light.
Jaipur, the Pink City is the capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur is surrounded on all sides by rugged hills, crowned with forts & enclosed by embattled walls. Houses with latticed windows line the streets with their rose pink colour, lending enchantment to the scene, which is almost magical at sunset.
The whole city was painted in pink colour by Maharaja Man Singh II when Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, visited Jaipur in 1876 AD.
Jaipur & its surroundings are rather like an endless museum. The city also offers an endless variety of crafts. Jaipur’s lacquer bangles are famous all over the world.
