For more than 800 years, Beijing was a capital city – from the Yuan Dynasty (1271 – 1368) to the Ming (1368 – 1644) and Qing (1644 – 1911) dynasties. Thirty-four emperors have lived and ruled the nation in Beijing and it has been an important city from its earliest days. Now, Beijing is the great capital city of an emerging superpower that is set to bestride the world like a colossal in the coming century.

Get a chance to explore Bejing’s past and present. Experience the rich cultural heritage of the Forbidden City and the Great Wall and be inspired by the modern Bird’s Nest.

You will also be taken round the surrounding areas to truly get a feel of China’s rich history. Visit Chendge and see the UNESCO protected Mountain Resort and Eight Outer Monasteries and the modern Tianjin with its ancient Cultural Street.

Itinerary

ARRIVE BEIJING CAPITAL INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – BEIJING (D)
Upon arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, you will be met by our representative then proceed to enjoy China’s legendary Old Beijing acrobatic show. After dinner, check into hotel.

BEIJING (B,L,D)
After arrival, we will visit Tiananmen Square. The Square of the Gate of Heavenly Peace, is reportedly the largest public square in the world. Through the gate, enter into Forbidden City, the best preserved imperial palace in China and the largest ancient palatial structure in the world.

The Forbidden City, home to 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, took 12 years to build. It consists of 90 palaces and courtyards, 980 buildings and 8,704 rooms. To represent the supreme power of the emperor given from God, the place where he lived being the center of the world, all structures of the Forbidden City were arranged at the south-north central axis of Beijing.

Next, we will proceed to the impressive Summer Palace which is ranked amongst the most noted and classical gardens of the world, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A photo stop at National Theatre of Beijing before we proceed to an excursion to a “Hutong” on an old town trishaw ride where you will be transported back to the past. Hutong is a typical lane or small street in Beijing that originated during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). As the symbol of Beijing City, a hutong has its own layout and structure, which makes it a wonder in the world.

After dinner, we return to the hotel.

BEIJING (B,L,D)
After breakfast, take a drive to visit the impressive Great Wall (Juyongguan), which is like a giant dragon stretching across North China. The 6350 km long Great Wall is a true wonder in the world architectural history. Meandering along the precipitous mountains, the Juyongguan Great Wall was first built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Then we continue to the 13th Ming Emperor’s tomb – Ding Ling. The underground palace was excavated and open to public.

Continue to Temple of Heaven, which served as an exclusive altar for Chinese Monarchs during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Reputed as the ‘Golden Streets’ of beijing, this most famous mecca of Beijing is lined with stores catering to all fashion tastes. Then we take a night walk to Donghuamen night market.

After dinner, we return to the hotel.

BEIJING – TIANJIN – BEIJING (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we proceed to Qianmen commercial area where you will see to two towering structures – Zhengyangmen’s gate tower and watchtower – section of the imperial city’s fortification during the Ming Dynasty to remain intact. Enjoy a leisurely walk here which features many China’s time-honoured shops. With a history of over 500 years, it is a tourist hotspot. Next, proceed to Tianjin where we will visit Tianjin Ancient Culture Street and Nanshi Food Street.

Tianjin Ancient Cultural Street, rebuilt in 1980’s, is one of the greatest successes in the renovation and redevelopment of the area. Above all, as you walk along the street, you will be particularly impressed by the splendid replica classical architecture in the folk style of the Qing Dynasty. Situated in the old city area, Nanshi Food Street consists of an exquisite parade of palace-like classic and elegant buildings which house over 100 restaurants offering luxury dishes, snacks and flavours of styles from all around the country.

After the tour, we return to Beijing by coach.

BEIJING – CHENGDE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we make photo stops at the impressive and internationally acclaimed Olympic national Stadium, known as the “Bird’s Nest” and National Aquatics Center known as the “Water Cube”. We then visit The Eight Outer Monasteries. The glistening gilt tiles and grandiose construction show a harmonic combination of many architectural styles.

We proceed to Chengde and upon arrival, we have dinner and then check into hotel.

CHENGDE – BEIJING (B,L,D)
In the early morning, we visit The Mountain Resort, known as the temporary Imperial Dwelling Palace in Rehe. The Mountain Resort is the largest royal garden in China. It was built during the reigns of Emperors Kang Xi and Qian Long of the Qing Dynasty. Then we visit the Eight Outer Monasteries. To the east and north of the Mountain Resort are the Eight Outer Monasteries, the largest cluster of royal temples in the world.The glistening gilt tiles and grandiose construction show a harmonic combination of many architectural styles including the Han, Mongolian, Uigur and Tibetan, etc. The Mountain Resort and the Eight Outer Temples was listed by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site in 1994.

After dinner, transfer back to hotel.

DEPART BEIJING (B)
After breakfast, free at own leisure until transfer to airport for your flight back home.
